Spirit of Texas Award AWARDED TO: Bob Davis, retired VP of Sales for Conwood Company, LLC TGCA created the “Spirit of Texas” award to honor persons who have provided outstanding leadership and service to their community and industry and have set examples of others to emulate.
Retailer, Wholesaler, and Supplier of the Year Awards AWARDED TO: Retailer of the Year: Robert Cinek, Lone Oak Grocery & Market Wholesaler of the Year: Thomas Hartman, McLane Southwest Supplier of the Year: Oak Farms Dairy The Retailer, Wholesaler, and Supplier of the Year Awards are the highest honor TGCA can bestow on retailer, wholesaler, and supplier members. The awards are presented annually to individuals whom, through their personal efforts and selflessness, stand out as leaders among peers in the grocery industry. Attendance at the Awards Breakfast is preferred, but not required. Expo & Convention registration will be mailed and on-line mid-May.
All TGCA members are invited to nominate their personal choices by submitting the Nomination Form. Please read the eligibility requirements and provide for each nomination the complete name, company affiliation, and address of the person(s) you wish to nominate and explain why you believe this nominee should be considered.

The Quarter and Half Century Clubs honors those individuals who have been employed in the grocery and/or allied industries for 25-49 years for the Quarter Century Club and 50 years or more for the for the Half Club Century, and have spent their career with one company or many, worked for a wholesaler, retailer, manufacturer or broker, etc., or a combination of them and may have one type of job or a variety. The nominees are being honored for their aggregate years of service in the industry. Nominees will be inducted, and will receive their membership plaque at TGCA’s Awards Breakfast. Attendance at the is preferred, but not required. Expo & Convention registration will be mailed and on-line mid-May.
W.A. McCarty Scholarship/TGCA Education Foundation Scholarship AWARDED TO: Retailer Scholarship - Shane Garrett Father owns Casstevens Cash & Carry in Lillian, Texas Wholesaler Scholarship - Landon McCaig Mother works for Grocery Supply Co. Each year TGCA Education Foundation will award (2) $1,000 Scholarships through its W.A. McCarty, Sr., Memorial Scholarship Fund to a son or daughter of a Retailer Member and Wholesaler Member of TGCA, which provides college scholarships and support to other such educational endeavors, authorized by the Board of Trustees.
Requirements for both Retail & Wholesale applicants must: Be a son or daughter of an employee of a wholesale member of TGCA Be a full time student, or have been accepted as a full-time student, of an accredited college or university. Submit a personally written 500-2,00 word essay on the subject: My Plan for a Future Career Submit a High School or College Transcript along with your SAT or ACT scores. Complete the TGCA Scholarship Application and attach a copy of your High School Transcript along with a copy of your SAT and/or ACT test results and the required essay.
