Retailer Scholarship - Shane Garrett, father owns Casstevens Cash & Carry in Lillian, Texas
Wholesaler Scholarship - Landon McCaig, mother works for Grocery Supply Co.
Purpose: The purpose of the foundation is to provide college scholarships and to support other such authorized educational endeavors, which the Board of Trustees approves.
Each year the TGCA Education Foundations awards at least (2) $1,000 scholarships to members of TGCA.
Scholarships Awarded: One awarded to a Retail Member One awarded to a Wholesaler Member
Eligibility: The recipient of the scholarship must be a part-time or full time employee who has been employed for at least six months by a TGCA retail or wholesale member as of June 1 of the year the scholarship is awarded. Or a dependent child of a permanent, full-time employee who has been employed by a TGCA retail or wholesale member for at least one year as of June 1, of the year the scholarship is awarded.

Winners will be notified approximately July 1, 2008 and presentation will be made at the the Texas Food & Fuel Expo during TGCA’s Award Breakfast on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, Gaylord Texan Resort, Grapevine, Texas. Recipients will be invited to attend, but not required. Expo & Convention registration will be mailed and on-line mid-May.
Requirements for both Retail & Wholesale applicants must: Be a son or daughter of an employee of a wholesale member of TGCA Be a full time student, or have been accepted as a full-time student, of an accredited college or university. Submit a personally written 500-2,000 word essay on the subject: My Plans for a Future Career Submit a High School or College Transcript along with your SAT or ACT scores. Complete the TGCA Scholarship Application and attach a copy of your High School Transcript along with a copy of your SAT and/or ACT test results and the required essay. Applicants will be evaluated as to academic scores/ratings, honors and awards, school and community activities and leadership, recommendations, etc.
