* Education Foundation Scholarship Program
At the February 2009 Board of Directors meeting, a motion was made and passed that the TGCA Education Foundation Scholarship be open to all TGCA members (prior to the change the scholarship was available only to retailers). We are in the process of conducting a fund raising campaign for the Education Foundation Fund with the goal of increasing the amount and/or number of scholarships awarded.
On both the Spring Swing and Fall Food Classic Sponsorship Form, you will find a line item voluntary contribution to the TGCA Education Foundation. Please consider a voluntary contribution to the TGCA Education Foundation. This goal cannot be reached without member support.
** Funds from Political Education Committee are used to:
- Educate members of the legislature and the administration on regulatory and legislative
issues that affect the food
industry. - Increase the political visibility of the food industry. - Support key public policy decisions through a comprehensive political education program.
The PEC program monitors and tracks legislation, which affects food retailers, suppliers, and wholesalers. It also prepares and presents testimony to influence legislation.
Other aspects of the PEC program include: - Weekly member updates during the legislative sessions, support or opposition to
relevant legislation. -Grass-roots support communicating with legislators on key issues.
